Bone Infections (Osteomyelitis)

What is a Bone Infection (Osteomyelitis)?
Osteomyelitis is an infection of your bone, and if untreated can cause destruction of the bone.

This can develop if you have an infection in your blood that spreads to the bone, or if you have a bony injury.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Joint pain
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Muscle Pain
  • Shakes and Chills

Treatment
Treatment often requires IV antibiotics and may include surgery to help clean out the infection from the bone.

If left untreated it can cause serious disability and even death.
